2017 Concert Series

The Stonewall Brigade Band’s summer concert season features a free concert every Monday evening at 8pm during the months of June, July and August. Concerts are held at the Stonewall Brigade Bandstand in the beautiful Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton, VA (click here for directions). A program for each concert can be found below.

Lawn chairs or blankets are highly suggested as permanent seating is very limited. For the best sound, try to sit on or near the permanent seats. On any evening, come early for a parking spot inside the park (parking is permitted on both sides of the park drive for concerts).

Concerts are held regardless of weather, except in the case of severe electrical storms or park flooding; weather cancellations will be posted in the commercial closings section of the WHSV website. If it’s raining, bring your umbrella with your lawn chair, or sit in your car and enjoy the concert from there. There’s a tradition of honking car horns in applause on rainy nights.

Summer concerts follow a fairly consistent format and generally include a military march, an overture, a concert march, a sacred selection, a Broadway show medley and several novelty, patriotic, and popular selections, ending with a Sousa march and the National Anthem. Several concerts have a thematic focus such as Flag Day, Independence Day, the Kids Concert and our Best of the Season concert. You can click here to suggest pieces from this year to play again on the Best Of The Season concert.  (But the time has past and the concert is posted.  See below.)

If your business or community organization would like to sponsor one of our concerts, please contact a board member.

Click here for directions to the Bandstand, or click here if you have any questions about the Stonewall Brigade Band.

Concerts are subject to change with or without notice.
